Overview
CA Firewall provides complete hacker and privacy protection. Every computer connected to the Internet is a potential target for hackers. A firewall acts as a barrier between your computer and the Internet, preventing unauthorized access to your computer. CA Firewall stops hacker attacks, monitors your Email for suspicious attachments, blocks pop-ups, controls cookies, and protects against identity theft.

What is a Firewall?
Firewalls monitor incoming Internet traffic and allow only what is known or trusted. Traffic enters through "ports" on your PC. There are over 65,000 ports available under the Internet Protocol. Trying to manually restrict or grant access to each of these would be impossible. Firewall software does this by allowing ports that need to be open and closing off those that do not. It also makes the computer "invisible" on the Internet so hackers will have a much harder time finding your PC.

Road Runner® and CA provide firewall protection as a part of CA Internet Security Suite, which is offered free as a part of your Road Runner Service.
